Many schools do not have full-time fine arts educators, and the fortunate schools that do often share these educators with other schools within the district. Most schools have very limited annual arts budgets; therefore, any additional support or enrichment gives their students a wider variety of arts experiences and deeper connections to the different disciplines and media.

 How to Become an Imagination Celebration School

We usually have 30-40 Participating Site Schools each year-some are at the beginning of their 3-year program commitment, while others are soon to rotate out of our program. Select schools may be approached by Imagination Celebration for participation, or an administrator, teacher, or parent may contact Imagination Celebration staff to complete an application form to begin the selection process. "From my own point of view, I can only tell you what has worked for me – find something you really enjoy doing and pursue it. For me it was artwork. Since other subjects came to me with more difficulty, I tried to combine art with them. So, for example, in history, I would often provide drawings depicting a particular period or situation – bringing together both cultural and historical elements. It did not necessarily bring up my history grade, but it did keep my mind open to history as it related to something I loved."
